I met Joanna sophomore year through French class, but became friends with her behind the Saturday morning wheel of the driver's ed car. She was one of my dearest friends through high school, college, and beyond. We created the US Weekly bookclub with a bunch of our teacher friends and managed to get together monthly to talk about everything but our jobs. She was a wonderful elementary teacher and reading specialist, but an even more devoted mother and wife. She was diagnosed with lymphoma on her son, Brandon's, 3rd birthday, August 29, 2011. She fought hard, but ultimately lost her battle on July 31, 2012.
I met Joanna my sophmore year at Inglemoor. She was a junior. Had it not been for the job, we shared, in an in home daycare center, we most likely never wouldve crossed paths. She was always a great listener. Never judgemental. We had sooo many fun times in highschool, and even more after we both graduated. I lost contact with Jo about 8 yrs ago and just recently heard of her passing. It truly breaks my heart that she is gone. She was there for me through two (of three) of my pregnancies. She helped name my son, Brandon!!! And she nicknamed him "B" (which has stuck with him for 16 yrs). Joanna made a huge impact on so many lives. I will never forget her. R.I.P. JOANNA
